Discovery+ has announced ‘Spooked Ireland’ as the latest addition to it’s 2023 paranormal programming.
Following the success of ‘Spooked Scotland’, the series will premiere on Friday September 29th and air on Really and Discovery+.
Renowned American medium Chris Fleming, parapsychologist and star of BBC’s ‘Uncanny’ podcast Evelyn Hollow and tech expert Ryan O’Neil are all set to return for the new series.
It has been confirmed Gail Porter will not be joining the team for the second series and will be replaced by Irish television presenter Vogue Williams in the role.
Medium Chris Fleming told Ghostmag in an exclusive interview: “Gail is not a part of it. They wanted to go with a different presenter since we’re in a different country.
“I think it’s very different from the first season. I think there are some really great moments but it has gone in a slightly different direction.”
The 10 new episodes of Spooked Ireland will feature the team exploring some of the most haunted locations in Ireland.
Whilst the locations are yet to be revealed, Ireland is home to a plethora of ghosts, witches and other supernatural beings.
From the Banshee, a female spirit who wails to warn of an impending death, to the Pooka, a shape-shifting creature that can take on the form of a horse or a goat, Ireland’s folklore is steeped in tales of the paranormal.
Chris added: “I loved some of the locations and wish I had more time at many of them.
“I think people are really going to enjoy and appreciate that Evelyn and Ryan have really stepped up this season.
“You’re going to see a lot of great things they do and contribute to the investigations. Some of the experiments that Evelyn does and the results she gets are phenomenal. Ryan too. I think people are going to enjoy that.”
‘Spooked Scotland’, which aired in 2022, showcased some of the most haunted locations in Scotland including the Edinburgh Vaults and Banshee Labyrinth, the site of the Glencoe massacre, Bannockburn House and Stirling’s Old Jail.
In addition to ‘Spooked Ireland’, the broadcaster has also revealed that ‘Help! My House is Haunted’ will return for a fifth series, whilst medium Ian Lawman will feature in a one hour spin off ‘The Yorkshire Exorcist‘ on Really this October.
