Yeovil Junction Railway Station
Yeovil Junction Railway Station, located in South Somerset, England, opened in 1860 as part of the London and South Western Railway. The station has a rich history and has been the subject of several reported ghostly encounters over the years.
One of the most well-known paranormal occurrences at Yeovil Junction involves the ghost of a former station master. Witnesses have reported seeing a figure in Victorian-era clothing, complete with a top hat and pocket watch, walking along the platform late at night. Some staff members claim to have heard footsteps and the sound of a pocket watch ticking when no one else was present.
Another recurring apparition is that of a young woman in a white dress, believed to be a passenger who died in a train accident at the station in the early 1900s. She has been seen wandering the platforms, appearing distressed and confused, before vanishing into thin air.
Station employees have reported unexplained cold spots, particularly in the waiting room and ticket office, even on warm summer days. Some have experienced an overwhelming sense of being watched when alone in these areas.
In the 1980s, a night watchman reported hearing the distinct sound of steam trains arriving and departing, complete with whistles and the hiss of steam, despite the fact that steam locomotives had long since been replaced by diesel and electric trains.
More recently, passengers waiting for late-night trains have reported seeing shadowy figures moving along the tracks, only to disappear when approached. These sightings have led some to speculate that the spirits of railway workers from bygone eras continue to patrol the line.
