West Bowling Golf Club

West Bowling Golf Club, located in Bradford, West Yorkshire, was established in 1906. The club’s grounds occupy land that was once part of the West Bowling Hall estate, dating back to the 16th century. The original manor house stood on the site until it was demolished in the early 1900s to make way for the golf course.

During World War II, the club’s grounds were requisitioned by the military and used as an anti-aircraft battery. Several buildings from this period still remain on the property, including gun emplacements and underground bunkers.

Over the years, staff and visitors have reported various paranormal occurrences at West Bowling Golf Club. One of the most frequently mentioned apparitions is that of a lady in Victorian-era clothing, often seen walking near the clubhouse. Some believe this to be the ghost of a former resident of West Bowling Hall.

Another common sighting is that of a young boy, described as wearing early 20th-century attire, who has been spotted running across the fairways and disappearing into thin air. Groundskeepers have reported hearing unexplained footsteps and childlike laughter when working alone on the course.

In the clubhouse, staff members have experienced strange phenomena, including objects moving on their own, lights turning on and off inexplicably, and sudden cold spots. Some have also reported feeling an unseen presence watching them, particularly in the older parts of the building.

During renovation work in the 1990s, workers uncovered a sealed-off room in the clubhouse basement. Subsequently, there were increased reports of paranormal activity, including the sound of heavy footsteps and doors slamming when no one else was present.
