The Noah’s Ark
The Noah’s Ark, located in Tipton, Sandwell, West Midlands, is a historic public house dating back to the 18th century. Originally constructed as a farmhouse in 1750, it was converted into an inn during the 1790s to serve travelers and workers from the nearby canal and coal mines. The building’s distinctive name is said to have originated from its location on a hill, which remained dry during severe flooding in the area.
Throughout its history, the Noah’s Ark has been the subject of numerous ghostly tales and paranormal encounters. One of the most frequently reported apparitions is that of a young girl in Victorian-era clothing, often seen wandering the upper floors and staircase. Witnesses have described hearing her footsteps and giggles echoing through the building.
Another recurring spirit is believed to be that of a former landlord, who allegedly committed suicide on the premises in the early 20th century. Staff and patrons have reported sensing his presence in the bar area, accompanied by sudden temperature drops and the smell of tobacco smoke.
The cellar has been a particular hotspot for supernatural activity, with reports of objects moving on their own, disembodied voices, and an oppressive atmosphere that has left some visitors feeling uneasy. Some have claimed to see the shadowy figure of a man lurking in the corners of the cellar.
In the 1990s, a team of paranormal investigators reportedly captured EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) recordings in the building, which they believed to be the voices of spirits communicating from beyond. These recordings, along with numerous personal accounts from staff and customers over the years, have contributed to the Noah’s Ark’s reputation as one of the most haunted locations in the West Midlands.
