The Moon Inn
The Moon Inn, located in Stoney Middleton, Derbyshire Dales, dates back to the 17th century. This historic coaching inn has been a fixture in the village for centuries, serving travelers and locals alike. The building’s stone walls and traditional architecture reflect its long-standing presence in the area.
Over the years, the Moon Inn has accumulated a number of ghost stories and reported paranormal encounters. One of the most well-known spirits is that of a young girl, believed to be around eight years old, who has been seen wandering the corridors and rooms of the inn. Witnesses have described her as wearing a white dress and having long, dark hair.
Another frequently reported apparition is that of a man in old-fashioned attire, often seen in the bar area. Some patrons have claimed to feel his presence or catch glimpses of him out of the corner of their eye, only for him to vanish when they turn to look directly at him.
Staff and guests have reported unexplained cold spots throughout the building, particularly on the upper floors. Some have experienced sudden temperature drops in specific rooms, even on warm days.
Mysterious footsteps have been heard echoing through empty corridors, and doors have been known to open and close on their own. Some visitors have reported feeling watched or sensing an unseen presence, especially in the older parts of the inn.
Objects have reportedly moved on their own, with glasses sliding across tables and pictures falling from walls without apparent cause. Several guests have also reported waking up in the night to find their belongings rearranged or moved to different locations within their rooms.
