The Leopard Inn

The Leopard Inn

The Leopard Inn in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, dates back to the early 18th century and has a long history of reported paranormal activity. Originally a coaching inn and hotel, it later became a pub before closing in 2008. The building’s upper floors were sealed off for decades, preserving them in a time capsule-like state.

Ghost sightings at The Leopard Inn have been numerous over the years. Staff and visitors have reported seeing the apparition of a man in Victorian clothing walking through walls and disappearing into thin air. In the cellar, people have felt an oppressive atmosphere and experienced sudden temperature drops. Some have claimed to hear the sound of children crying and playing in empty rooms.

One of the most frequently reported phenomena is the ghost of a woman in a long black dress, believed to be a former landlady. She has been seen gliding down corridors and through closed doors. Visitors have also reported feeling watched and touched by unseen hands, particularly in the upper floors.

Paranormal investigators have recorded unexplained sounds, including footsteps and whispers, in empty areas of the building. Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) sessions have allegedly captured voices responding to questions. Some visitors have reported seeing objects move on their own, such as glasses sliding across tables and doors opening and closing without explanation.

The Leopard Inn’s reputation for ghostly activity has made it a popular destination for ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts, with many organized ghost tours and investigations taking place at the location over the years.
