The Cat Inn

The Cat Inn

The Cat Inn, located in South Staffordshire, dates back to the 17th century and has a rich history of paranormal activity. The pub, originally built as a coaching inn, has been a focal point for ghostly encounters over the years. Staff and patrons have reported seeing the apparition of a young girl in Victorian-era clothing, believed to be the spirit of a child who died in a fire at the inn during the 1800s. She is often seen wandering the upstairs rooms and corridors.

Another frequently reported phenomenon is the sound of heavy footsteps echoing through the building when no one is present. These footsteps are attributed to a former landlord who allegedly hanged himself in the attic during the early 20th century. Visitors have also experienced sudden cold spots and the sensation of being watched, particularly in the bar area.

In the 1990s, a team of paranormal investigators recorded unexplained voices and captured photographs of mysterious orbs of light within the inn. One of the most chilling accounts involves a group of customers who claim to have seen a spectral figure materialize behind the bar before vanishing into thin air.

The inn’s cellar is said to be a hotspot for paranormal activity, with staff reporting objects moving on their own and the sound of whispered conversations when no one else is present. Some employees have refused to enter the cellar alone due to an overwhelming sense of unease and the feeling of being touched by unseen hands.
