Strelley Hall
Strelley Hall, located in Nottingham, England, is a Grade II listed building with a history dating back to the 12th century. The original structure was built around 1200 AD as a castle for the de Strelley family, who owned the property for over 500 years. The current hall was constructed in the 1780s, incorporating parts of the medieval castle.
The hall has a reputation for paranormal activity, with several reported ghost sightings over the years. One of the most well-known spirits is believed to be that of Nicholas de Strelley, who allegedly haunts the grounds. Witnesses have reported seeing a spectral figure dressed in Tudor-era clothing walking through walls and disappearing into thin air.
Another frequently reported apparition is that of a young girl, often seen in the upper floors of the hall. Some accounts describe her as wearing a white nightgown and having long, dark hair. Visitors and staff have reported hearing her footsteps and giggles echoing through the corridors.
The hall’s cellars are said to be particularly active, with reports of cold spots, unexplained noises, and feelings of unease. Some visitors have claimed to feel an unseen presence brushing past them or touching their shoulders in these areas.
In the surrounding grounds, there have been sightings of a phantom horse and rider, believed to be connected to the hall’s long history. The sound of galloping hooves has been reported on still nights, with no visible source.
The library is another area of reported activity, with books allegedly moving on their own and the sound of pages turning when no one is present. Some visitors have reported feeling watched while in this room.
