Stourbridge Police Station
Stourbridge Police Station, located in the West Midlands town of Stourbridge, has a history dating back to the late 19th century. The original Victorian building served as the local police headquarters until it was replaced by a more modern structure in the 1960s. Throughout its years of operation, the station has been the subject of numerous ghostly encounters reported by both officers and visitors.
One of the most frequently recounted paranormal experiences involves the apparition of a uniformed police officer from the early 20th century. Staff members have reported seeing this figure patrolling the corridors late at night, only to vanish when approached. Some witnesses claim to have recognized the ghost as a former sergeant who died in the line of duty during the 1930s.
The station’s holding cells have been a particular hotspot for supernatural activity. Detained individuals have reported hearing disembodied whispers and feeling unseen presences in their cells. In one documented case from the 1990s, a prisoner claimed to have seen the ghost of a woman in Victorian-era clothing materialize in his cell before disappearing through the wall.
Officers working night shifts have reported unexplained footsteps echoing through empty corridors and the sound of doors slamming shut on their own. Some have even described feeling a sudden drop in temperature and an overwhelming sense of unease in certain areas of the building, particularly near the old evidence storage room.
In the station’s car park, there have been multiple sightings of a ghostly figure believed to be a victim of a hit-and-run accident that occurred nearby in the 1970s. Witnesses describe seeing a translucent man wandering aimlessly before fading away into the night.
