Seafield House
Seafield House, located in Westward Ho!, Devon, England, was built in the 1880s as a seaside retreat for the Seafield family. The imposing Victorian mansion later served as a hotel and a nursing home before falling into disrepair. Over the years, numerous ghostly encounters have been reported within its weathered walls.
One of the most frequently sighted apparitions is that of a young woman in a flowing white dress, believed to be a former resident who died tragically on the property. Visitors and staff have described seeing her gliding through corridors and vanishing into walls, often accompanied by a sudden drop in temperature.
The ghost of a former caretaker is said to haunt the basement areas, with witnesses reporting the sound of heavy footsteps and the jangling of keys when no one else is present. Some have even claimed to feel an unseen presence brushing past them in the narrow passageways.
In the upper floors, the disembodied laughter of children has been heard echoing through empty rooms, thought to be connected to the building’s time as a family home. Guests have reported seeing shadowy figures darting around corners and disappearing into thin air.
Perhaps the most chilling phenomenon is the recurring sound of a woman’s desperate screams emanating from one of the bedrooms, always occurring at precisely 3:15 AM. Local legend attributes this to a guest who met a violent end in the room during the house’s hotel era.
These persistent paranormal activities have made Seafield House a popular destination for ghost hunters and curious visitors seeking a glimpse into the supernatural realm.
