Royal Airforce Museum

The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, located in Shropshire, England, was established in 1979 on the grounds of RAF Cosford, an active military base. The site’s history dates back to 1938 when it was originally constructed as a training school for RAF aircraft technicians. During World War II, it played a crucial role in training thousands of personnel to support the war effort.

The museum houses an extensive collection of aircraft and aviation artifacts, including many rare and historically significant planes. Its Cold War exhibition, opened in 2007, is particularly notable, featuring aircraft and missiles from both sides of the Iron Curtain.

Over the years, staff and visitors have reported numerous ghostly encounters at the museum. One of the most frequently mentioned apparitions is that of a World War II pilot, often seen walking among the vintage aircraft displays. Witnesses describe him as wearing a 1940s-era RAF uniform.

In the Cold War hangar, security guards have reported hearing unexplained footsteps and seeing shadowy figures moving between the exhibits after hours. Some have even claimed to hear the faint sound of aircraft engines starting up when no one else is present.

Another recurring phenomenon involves a ghostly figure seen near the museum’s Avro Lincoln bomber. This spirit is said to be a former crew member who died during a mission. Visitors have reported feeling sudden cold spots and experiencing an overwhelming sense of sadness in this area.

The control tower, which predates the museum, is also said to be haunted. Staff members have reported hearing disembodied voices and seeing lights turn on and off by themselves, particularly during quiet evening hours.
