Renvyle House Hotel
Renvyle House Hotel in County Galway, Ireland, has a rich history dating back to the 12th century when it was originally built as a castle for the O’Flaherty clan. The property changed hands several times over the centuries before being converted into a hotel in the 1880s. Tragically, the original building was burned down during the Irish Civil War in 1922 but was rebuilt and reopened as a hotel in 1930.
The hotel has gained a reputation for paranormal activity over the years. One of the most frequently reported ghostly encounters involves the spirit of a young girl in a white dress, believed to be the daughter of a previous owner. Guests and staff have reported seeing her apparition in various parts of the hotel, particularly in the corridors and near the staircase.
Another ghostly presence associated with Renvyle House is that of poet W.B. Yeats, who once owned the property. Visitors have claimed to see his spectral figure in the library and gardens, often appearing deep in thought or writing.
The hotel’s Pink Bedroom is said to be a hotspot for supernatural occurrences. Guests have reported feeling an unseen presence in the room, experiencing sudden temperature drops, and hearing unexplained footsteps and whispers. Some have even claimed to feel a ghostly hand touching them while they sleep.
Staff members have also reported strange occurrences, including objects moving on their own, doors opening and closing without explanation, and the sound of phantom music playing late at night when the hotel is quiet.
