Plough Inn
The Plough Inn, nestled in South Staffordshire, dates back to the 17th century and has a rich history of paranormal activity. This former coaching inn has been the site of numerous ghostly encounters over the years. Staff and patrons have reported seeing the apparition of a young girl in Victorian-era clothing, believed to be the spirit of a child who died in a fire at the inn during the 1800s. Her presence is often accompanied by the sound of childish laughter and the inexplicable movement of toys in the building.
Another frequently sighted spirit is that of a former landlord, described as a tall man in 19th-century attire. Witnesses claim to have seen him walking through walls and vanishing into thin air. Some guests have reported feeling a sudden chill and an overwhelming sense of being watched in certain areas of the inn, particularly in the upstairs rooms.
The Plough Inn’s cellar is said to be a hotbed of paranormal activity, with staff members experiencing unseen hands touching them and hearing disembodied voices calling their names. Objects have been known to move on their own, and the sound of heavy footsteps has been heard when no one else is present.
One of the most unsettling phenomena reported at the Plough Inn is the appearance of a ghostly horse-drawn carriage in the parking lot. Multiple witnesses have described seeing this spectral vehicle materialize late at night, only to vanish moments later, leaving no trace behind.
