Pleasley Vale Mills
Pleasley Vale Mills, located in Mansfield, has a rich history dating back to the late 18th century. The mills were originally built for cotton spinning and later adapted for other industries. During World War I, the mills produced khaki cloth for military uniforms. Tragedy struck in 1928 when a fire broke out, resulting in the death of one worker.
Over the years, numerous ghostly encounters have been reported at Pleasley Vale Mills. Witnesses have described seeing apparitions of former mill workers, including a man in a flat cap and a woman in a white dress. Disembodied voices, unexplained footsteps, and the sounds of machinery have been heard echoing through the empty buildings. Some visitors have reported feeling sudden cold spots and a sense of unease in certain areas.
One of the most well-known ghost stories involves a former mill manager who allegedly hanged himself on the premises. His spirit is said to roam the mills, and some have claimed to see his ghostly figure hanging from the rafters. Another tale speaks of a young girl who died in the mills and whose presence is still felt by those who venture inside.
The mills have also been the site of poltergeist activity, with objects reportedly moving on their own and doors slamming shut unexpectedly. Visitors have captured orbs and other anomalies in photographs taken at the location.
