Parkside Social Club

The Parkside Social Club in Bradford, England, has a history dating back to the early 20th century. Originally constructed as a private residence in the 1900s, the building was later converted into a social club for local workers and residents. During World War II, the club served as a gathering place for soldiers and civilians, offering a brief respite from the hardships of wartime.

Over the years, staff and patrons have reported numerous ghostly encounters within the club’s walls. One of the most frequently sighted apparitions is that of a young woman in Victorian-era clothing, often spotted near the staircase or in the main bar area. Witnesses describe her as having a melancholy expression and claim she vanishes when approached.

Another recurring phenomenon involves the sound of footsteps and muffled conversations emanating from empty rooms, particularly after closing hours. Staff members have reported feeling unseen presences and experiencing sudden cold spots throughout the building.

In the 1980s, a former bartender claimed to have witnessed glasses sliding across the bar on their own and bottles inexplicably falling from shelves. Several patrons have also reported seeing the ghostly figure of an elderly man seated at a corner table, only to find the seat empty upon closer inspection.

During renovations in the late 1990s, workers uncovered a hidden room in the basement, containing old documents and personal effects dating back to the building’s early days as a private residence. Some believe this discovery may have stirred up paranormal activity in the club.
