Newton House
Newton House, located in Llandeilo, Wales, is a Georgian mansion built in the 1660s on the site of an earlier medieval castle. The estate has been owned by several prominent Welsh families over the centuries, including the Rice family who held it for over 300 years. The house underwent significant renovations in the 18th and 19th centuries, giving it its current neoclassical appearance.
The property has a long history of reported paranormal activity. One of the most well-known ghost stories involves Lady Elinor Cavendish, who allegedly died of strangulation in the castle in 1720. Visitors and staff have reported feeling a sensation of being choked while in certain areas of the house, particularly on the upper floors.
Another frequently reported apparition is that of a young boy, often seen playing on the grand staircase or running through the corridors. Some witnesses claim to have heard the sound of children’s laughter echoing through empty rooms.
The house’s servants’ quarters are said to be particularly active, with reports of shadowy figures, unexplained footsteps, and the smell of tobacco smoke. Some staff members have reported feeling watched or followed while working in these areas.
In the surrounding grounds, there have been sightings of a spectral white horse galloping across the fields, as well as reports of a ghostly soldier patrolling the estate. The nearby ruined castle is also said to be haunted by the ghost of a medieval Welsh prince.
Visitors to Newton House have reported sudden temperature drops, the feeling of being touched by unseen hands, and objects moving on their own. Photographic anomalies and unexplained electronic voice phenomena have been captured during paranormal investigations at the property.
