Maes Y Neuadd
Maes Y Neuadd, a 14th-century manor house turned hotel in Talsarnau, North Wales, has a rich history and reputation for paranormal activity. The property, originally built in 1388, served as a home for Welsh nobility before being converted into a hotel in the 20th century. Over the centuries, numerous ghost sightings and unexplained phenomena have been reported by staff and guests alike.
One of the most frequently encountered spirits is that of a young girl in Victorian-era clothing, often seen wandering the corridors and gardens. Witnesses describe her as having long, dark hair and a sad expression. Some guests have reported hearing her footsteps and giggling in empty rooms.
The hotel’s library is said to be haunted by the ghost of an elderly man, believed to be a former owner. Staff members have reported books mysteriously falling from shelves and the smell of pipe tobacco when no one is smoking.
In the kitchens, employees have experienced unexplained cold spots, objects moving on their own, and the sound of pots and pans clanging when the area is empty. Some attribute these occurrences to the spirit of a former cook who allegedly died in a fire on the premises.
Guests staying in certain rooms have reported feeling an unseen presence sitting on their bed or hearing whispers and footsteps when alone. Others have claimed to see shadowy figures darting across hallways or peering through windows at night.
The grounds of Maes Y Neuadd are also said to be haunted, with reports of a spectral horse and rider galloping across the fields in the early morning hours.
