Llanthony Secunda Manor

Llanthony Secunda Manor

Llanthony Secunda Manor, located in Caldicot, Wales, dates back to the 12th century. Originally constructed as a grange farm for Llanthony Priory, the manor has a rich history spanning nearly 900 years. The building has undergone several renovations and changes of ownership throughout its existence, including a period of abandonment in the 20th century before being restored.

The manor’s paranormal reputation stems from numerous reported ghostly encounters over the years. One of the most frequently sighted apparitions is that of a monk, believed to be from the original Llanthony Priory. Witnesses have described seeing the monk’s figure gliding through corridors and rooms, often accompanied by a sudden drop in temperature.

Another commonly reported phenomenon is the sound of children’s laughter and footsteps echoing through empty rooms, particularly on the upper floors. Some visitors have claimed to see shadowy figures darting across doorways or peering out from windows when the building was supposedly empty.

The manor’s kitchen area has been a hotspot for paranormal activity, with reports of objects moving on their own, unexplained cold spots, and the smell of cooking food when no one is present. Some guests have reported feeling an unseen presence watching them or experiencing a sensation of being touched when alone in certain rooms.

In the attic space, visitors have reported hearing scratching sounds and whispers, as well as feeling an overwhelming sense of unease. Some have claimed to capture orbs and unexplained mists in photographs taken in this area.

The grounds surrounding the manor have also been the site of reported apparitions, including a lady in white seen wandering the gardens at dusk and the sound of horse hooves on the empty driveway.
