Llanelly House
Llanelly House, located in Llanelli, Wales, is a prominent Georgian town house built in 1714 by Sir Thomas Stepney. The house underwent significant renovations in the early 18th century, transforming it into a grand residence befitting the wealthy Stepney family. The property remained in the Stepney family until 1977 when it was acquired by Llanelli Borough Council.
The house has a rich history of reported paranormal activity. One of the most well-known ghost stories involves the spirit of a maid named Mira Turner, who is said to have fallen to her death from a window in the 18th century. Visitors and staff have reported seeing her apparition in various parts of the house, particularly near the window where she allegedly fell.
Another frequently reported entity is that of a young boy, believed to be the son of Sir Thomas Stepney. Witnesses have described seeing the boy’s ghost playing in the corridors and rooms of the house. Some have even claimed to hear the sound of childish laughter echoing through the building.
The Lady’s Maid’s room is said to be a hotspot for paranormal activity, with reports of unexplained cold spots, strange noises, and the feeling of an unseen presence. Some visitors have reported feeling a ghostly touch or hearing whispers in this area.
In the cellars, staff and visitors have reported hearing footsteps and seeing shadowy figures moving in the darkness. Some have speculated that these might be the spirits of servants who once worked in the house.
The grand staircase is another area where paranormal encounters have been reported, with some witnesses claiming to have seen a female apparition descending the stairs, only to vanish into thin air.
