Leith Hall
Leith Hall is a historic country house located in Kennethmont, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Built in 1650 by James Leith, the house remained in the Leith family for over three centuries until 1945. The property includes formal gardens and extensive grounds.
Several ghosts are said to haunt Leith Hall. The most frequently reported is John Leith III, who was shot in the head during an argument in Aberdeen in 1763. He died at Leith Hall three days later. Witnesses have described seeing an apparition of a man in 18th-century clothing with a bandage around his head, believed to be John Leith III.
Another commonly reported spirit is that of Harriet Leith, wife of Alexander Sebastian Leith. She allegedly appears wearing Victorian-era green satin dress. Visitors have reported seeing her ghostly figure in various parts of the house, particularly in the music room.
The “Green Lady” is another spectral resident, though her identity remains unclear. Some believe she may be the same entity as Harriet Leith, while others consider her a separate ghost. She is often seen on the grand staircase or in the upper floors of the house.
Paranormal activity at Leith Hall includes unexplained footsteps, doors opening and closing on their own, and objects moving without apparent cause. Some visitors have reported feeling sudden cold spots or experiencing an overwhelming sense of unease in certain areas of the house.
Children’s laughter and the sound of a phantom dog have also been reported in the halls and gardens, though the identities of these spirits are unknown. Staff and visitors have described feeling watched or followed while exploring the property, particularly in the older sections of the house.
