Giffard Arms

The Giffard Arms, located in Wolverhampton, dates back to the 18th century and has a long history as a public house. Originally named the Red Cow, it was later renamed after the local Giffard family. The building’s architecture reflects its Georgian origins, with later Victorian additions.

Over the years, the Giffard Arms has gained a reputation for paranormal activity. Staff and patrons have reported numerous ghostly encounters within its walls. One of the most frequently seen apparitions is that of a young girl, believed to be around 8-10 years old, who has been spotted in various areas of the pub. Witnesses describe her as wearing Victorian-era clothing and often appearing briefly before vanishing.

Another recurring phenomenon is the sound of footsteps on the upper floors when no one is present. These phantom footsteps are often accompanied by the sensation of an unseen presence, particularly in the function room and staff areas.

The cellar of the Giffard Arms is also a hotspot for paranormal activity. Staff members have reported feeling touched or pushed while working in the cellar, and some have refused to enter alone due to the eerie atmosphere.

Objects moving on their own have been documented, particularly in the bar area. Glasses have been seen sliding across surfaces without explanation, and bottles have reportedly fallen from shelves without being touched.

A male apparition, described as wearing old-fashioned attire, has been sighted in the main bar area. Witnesses claim he appears solid at first glance but fades away when approached.
