Elstree Film & TV Studios

Elstree Film & TV Studios, located in Hertsmere, Hertfordshire, has a rich history dating back to 1914. It was one of the first film studios in the UK and has been the birthplace of numerous iconic productions, including the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.

The studios have a reputation for paranormal activity, with several reported ghost sightings over the years. One of the most well-known spectral residents is said to be a former stagehand who died in an accident on set. Staff members have reported hearing unexplained footsteps and seeing shadowy figures in the corridors late at night.

In the 1960s, during the filming of “The Dirty Dozen,” crew members reported strange occurrences, including equipment moving on its own and unexplained cold spots on set. Some attributed these events to the ghost of a World War II soldier, as the film was set during that era.

Another notable ghostly encounter involves the spirit of a young woman in Victorian-era clothing, often seen wandering the grounds near the old water tower. Some speculate she may be connected to the land’s history before the studios were built.

In the 1980s, security guards reported seeing the apparition of a man in 1940s attire walking through walls in one of the older studio buildings. This sighting coincided with renovations being carried out in that area.

The famous George Lucas Stage, built in the 1980s, has its own share of supernatural tales. Crew members have reported feeling an unseen presence and hearing disembodied voices when working late at night.
