Castle Fraser, located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, dates back to the 15th century and has been home to the Fraser family for over 400 years. The castle’s construction began in 1575 and was completed in 1636, resulting in a grand Z-plan tower house that stands as one of the largest in Scotland.

Throughout its long history, Castle Fraser has accumulated several chilling ghost stories. One of the most well-known tales involves a young princess who was brutally murdered while staying in the castle. Legend has it that her body was dragged down the stone staircase, leaving a trail of blood that stained the steps. Despite numerous attempts to clean the stains, they supposedly always reappeared. Eventually, the steps were covered with wooden panels, which remain in place to this day.

Another eerie presence reported at Castle Fraser is the ghost of Lady Blanche Drummond, who died in the castle in 1874. Visitors and staff have claimed to see her apparition wandering the corridors and bedrooms, dressed in a long black gown. Some have also reported hearing the rustle of her dress as she moves through the castle.

The Green Room is said to be particularly haunted, with guests reporting feelings of unease and the sensation of being watched. Some have even claimed to see a dark figure standing at the foot of the bed in the middle of the night.
