Bradley Woods

Bradley Woods, located in Bradley, Lincolnshire, has a rich history dating back centuries. The woodland area was once part of the medieval Grimsby Abbey estate and later became a popular spot for local residents to gather firewood and graze livestock. During World War II, the woods served as a temporary camp for Allied soldiers preparing for D-Day.

The most famous ghost story associated with Bradley Woods is that of the “Black Lady of Bradley Woods.” According to local legend, this spectral figure is said to be the spirit of a young woman whose husband never returned from war. Grief-stricken, she wandered into the woods with her infant child, where they both perished. Witnesses describe her as a tall, slim figure dressed in a flowing black cloak with a hood obscuring her face.

Numerous sightings of the Black Lady have been reported over the years, particularly near dusk. Some accounts claim she appears suddenly on the roadside, while others describe encountering her deep within the woods. Witnesses often report feeling an overwhelming sense of sadness in her presence.

Another reported apparition is that of a young boy, believed to be the ghost of a child who drowned in a nearby pond. Visitors have described hearing childlike laughter and seeing glimpses of a small figure darting between trees.

Some locals have also reported strange lights moving through the woods at night, as well as unexplained cold spots and feelings of being watched. The area around an old, gnarled oak tree is said to be a particular hotspot for paranormal activity, with some visitors claiming to have experienced time slips or disorientation near this location.
