Boys Hall
Boys Hall, located in Ashford, Kent, England, is a Grade II listed Jacobean manor house dating back to 1616. The property was originally built by the Tournay family, who were wealthy local landowners. The hall’s name derives from its association with Thomas Boys, who acquired the estate in the late 17th century.
Throughout its history, Boys Hall has been the subject of numerous ghost stories and paranormal encounters. One of the most well-known spectral residents is said to be the spirit of a young maid who allegedly hanged herself in the attic after becoming pregnant out of wedlock. Visitors and staff have reported hearing footsteps and seeing her apparition in various parts of the building.
Another frequently mentioned ghost is that of a Cavalier soldier from the English Civil War era. Witnesses claim to have seen him wandering the grounds and corridors, often accompanied by the sound of jangling spurs.
The hall’s library is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former owner, believed to be Thomas Boys himself. People have reported feeling an unseen presence and experiencing sudden temperature drops in this room.
In the 1950s, a local vicar was called to perform an exorcism at Boys Hall due to increased paranormal activity. Despite his efforts, the ghostly occurrences reportedly continued.
Over the years, numerous paranormal investigations have been conducted at Boys Hall, with investigators reporting unexplained noises, moving objects, and electronic voice phenomena (EVP) recordings. While skeptics argue that many of these experiences can be attributed to natural causes or suggestion, the hall’s reputation as a haunted location persists in local folklore and paranormal circles.
