Beaulieu Motor Museum

Beaulieu Motor Museum, located in Hampshire, England, was founded in 1952 by Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu, 3rd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu. The museum is housed within the grounds of the historic Beaulieu Estate, which has a rich history dating back to the 13th century when it was home to Beaulieu Abbey.

Over the years, visitors and staff have reported numerous ghostly encounters at the museum and its surrounding areas. One of the most frequently sighted apparitions is that of a monk, believed to be from the former Beaulieu Abbey. Witnesses have described seeing the robed figure gliding through the museum’s exhibits and disappearing into walls.

In the Palace House, which is part of the Beaulieu Estate, the ghost of Lady Isabella Montagu has been reported. She is said to appear in a grey dress, often seen walking down the main staircase or wandering the corridors. Staff members have reported hearing unexplained footsteps and feeling sudden cold spots in various parts of the building.

The Beaulieu gardens have also been the site of paranormal activity. Visitors have reported seeing the ghostly figure of a groundskeeper tending to the flowers, only to vanish when approached. Others have heard disembodied whispers and felt unseen presences while walking through the grounds.

In the motor museum itself, there have been accounts of vintage cars mysteriously starting up on their own, with engines revving and lights flashing, despite being fully restored and disconnected from any power source. Some visitors have also reported seeing shadowy figures darting between the vehicles, particularly in the older sections of the museum.
