Beacon Hotel

Beacon Hotel

The Beacon Hotel in Coseley, West Midlands, dates back to the early 19th century. Originally constructed as a private residence, it was converted into a public house in the 1850s. The building’s architecture reflects its Georgian origins, with later Victorian additions.

During its time as a pub, the Beacon Hotel gained a reputation for paranormal activity. Staff and patrons have reported numerous ghostly encounters over the years. One of the most frequently sighted apparitions is that of a young girl in Victorian-era clothing, often seen on the staircase or in the upper rooms. Witnesses describe her as having long dark hair and a pale complexion.

Another commonly reported phenomenon is the sound of footsteps in empty rooms and corridors. These disembodied steps are often accompanied by the sensation of being watched or followed. Some visitors have claimed to feel sudden cold spots or experience unexplained temperature drops in certain areas of the building.

In the cellar, several staff members have reported seeing the ghost of an elderly man. He is described as wearing old-fashioned workman’s clothes and is believed to be a former employee from the pub’s early days. Objects in the cellar have been known to move on their own, and strange noises are frequently heard coming from this area.

The bar area has been the site of numerous paranormal incidents. Glasses have been seen sliding across tables unaided, and bottles have reportedly fallen from shelves without explanation. Some patrons have even claimed to see spectral figures reflected in the bar’s mirrors, only to find no one there when they turn around.
