Atlantis Nightclub

Atlantis Nightclub in Wolverhampton, located on Queen Street, opened its doors in the 1970s and quickly became a popular venue for locals seeking nightlife entertainment. The building itself, however, dates back to the 19th century and has a rich history predating its nightclub days. Originally constructed as a grand hotel, the structure has witnessed numerous transformations over the years.

Reports of paranormal activity at Atlantis Nightclub began surfacing in the late 1980s. Staff members have consistently reported strange occurrences, particularly in the early hours after closing. One of the most frequently documented ghostly encounters involves the apparition of a young woman in Victorian-era clothing, often seen near the main staircase. Witnesses describe her as having a sorrowful expression and claim she vanishes when approached.

Another recurring phenomenon is the sound of footsteps echoing through empty corridors and unexplained knocking on doors when the club is vacant. Several employees have reported feeling an unseen presence watching them while working alone in the building.

In the 1990s, a group of patrons claimed to have seen glasses sliding across the bar seemingly on their own, an incident that was corroborated by the bartender on duty that night. Some staff members have also reported sudden, inexplicable cold spots in various areas of the club, particularly near the old fireplace in what was once the hotel’s lobby.

The club’s basement, which once served as a storage area for the hotel, is said to be a hotspot for paranormal activity. Maintenance workers have reported tools mysteriously moving or disappearing, only to reappear in different locations.
