Arbor Low Stone Circle

Arbor Low Stone Circle

Arbor Low Stone Circle, located in the Derbyshire Dales, is a Neolithic henge monument dating back to around 2500 BC. The site consists of a large circular earthwork enclosure with a ditch and bank, measuring approximately 76 meters in diameter. Inside the henge are over 50 limestone slabs, originally arranged in a circle but now lying flat on the ground. A central stone “cove” structure once stood within the circle.

The site has been associated with various paranormal phenomena and ghost sightings over the years. Local legends speak of shadowy figures seen moving among the stones at night, particularly during full moons or on significant dates like the solstices. Some visitors have reported feeling sudden temperature drops and experiencing an inexplicable sense of unease or being watched while exploring the circle.

One persistent ghost story involves the apparition of a tall, robed figure believed to be an ancient druid or priest. This spectral entity is said to materialize near the center of the circle, performing what appears to be ritualistic gestures before vanishing.

Other accounts describe hearing faint chanting or drumming sounds emanating from the site when no one else is present. Some paranormal enthusiasts claim to have captured orbs and strange light anomalies in photographs taken at Arbor Low.

In the 1920s, a local farmer reported seeing a procession of ethereal figures circling the stones at dawn. This sighting sparked renewed interest in the site’s supernatural connections.

While many of these accounts remain anecdotal, Arbor Low’s ancient origins and mysterious atmosphere continue to fuel speculation about its potential paranormal activity.
