Annesley Hall

Annesley Hall

Annesley Hall, located in Nottinghamshire, England, dates back to the 13th century and has a rich history of paranormal activity. The hall was home to the Annesley family for centuries before falling into disrepair in the 20th century. One of the most famous ghost stories associated with the hall involves the White Lady, believed to be the spirit of Anne Annesley. According to local legend, Anne fell in love with a servant but was forced to marry a nobleman. Heartbroken, she died young, and her ghost is said to wander the halls, still searching for her lost love.

Another well-known apparition is that of a young boy, often seen peering out of the hall’s windows. Witnesses have reported hearing the sound of children’s laughter and footsteps when no one else is present. In the 1970s, a group of workmen claimed to have seen the ghost of a man in period clothing walking through a solid wall.

The hall’s library is said to be particularly active, with books reportedly flying off shelves and the strong scent of pipe tobacco lingering in the air. Visitors and staff have also reported feeling sudden cold spots and experiencing an overwhelming sense of unease in certain areas of the building.

One of the most chilling accounts comes from a paranormal investigation team who captured EVP recordings of a woman’s voice saying “help me” and “I’m trapped” during an overnight stay at the hall. These experiences have contributed to Annesley Hall’s reputation as one of the most haunted locations in England.
